My focus will be on the latter, as I believe the mobile version is not quite ready for prime time, when it comes to uploading your images in the field, viewing, and editing on your mobile device, especially more so on Apple's iPad and iPhone. Of course, there are caveats to this procedure, which I will mention.Īs I stated, LR Mobile can be used as the starting point to get new photos uploaded, or as a viewer of your Lightroom catalog images. The way this works is Adobe stores and transfers the images through the web on its servers. Once the images are synced, they can be edited from either side, and automatically send the updated results to all your devices. Or they can be stored on your main computer and show up on your mobile devices. The beauty of this application, when it is working correctly, is that your images can start at the mobile end, either by adding pictures from your camera's storage card, or from your phone's camera.
Except, Adobe no longer calls it Mobile but Lightroom CC, the same name as the desktop version we usually avoid! In this article, I will refer to it as LR Mobile to avoid further confusion. Of course, Adobe makes it more confusing with their naming conventions, as they have Lightroom Classic, the version most photographers use, Lightroom CC, the version most of us avoid, and Lightroom Mobile. The application will work better if you are already using Lightroom Classic. This is a free app, but you will need to have an Adobe account and be signed in with them to use it.
In addition to the desktop version of Lightroom, Adobe offers up a mobile version for your phones, iPads, and similar devices.
